Religion

Religion means the service and worship of God or the Supernatural. To me it means good behavior and a peaceful life. I think that religion is a very important aspect of life. It is about your beliefs and what you learn from its morals. This essay talks about this topic and many more.

There are many religions in the world. Some of them are Christianity, Buddhism, Islamic (or Muslim), Hindu, Sikh and Judaism. These are the main ones that are spread out all across the world. Hinduism is a body of religious beliefs and practices native to India. The Hindus follow about 20-25000 Gods. Christianity is the religion derived from Jesus Christ, based on the bible as sacred scriptures, professed by Christians and is a very famous one all over the nations. Muslim is an adherent of the the religion founded the the Arab prophet Muhammad. They have an of Heaven and Hell. They call it Jahnem (heaven) and Bahest (hell). Sikh is an Indian religion marked by rejection of caste. Judaism was developed by the ancient Hebrews. Egyptians don't have a name for their religion but they do have many Gods and have a belief of after and before life. Agnosticism is a good belief according to me. It is when an ultimate reality is unknown and probably unknowable. Atheists are are people that don't believe in God.

Different cultures had different Gods until the Jews said that reality is basically one. These people were the first monists. All cultures have different divine activities, songs, ceremonies and rituals. A religious ceremony is an act or a series of acts prescribed by rituals. One ceremony that I know of well is baptism. “It is a Christian sacrament marked by ritual use of water and admitting the recipient to the Christian community.”

Many people meditate because it is proven that it helps you calm down and relax. Meditation is a discourse intended to express it's author's feelings or reflections to guide others in contemplation. A person well known for this is Buddha. He meditated for 6 or 7 years. A very long time.

Devotion is an act of prayer or private worship. I think if you believe in something bigger than you, then you should devote your life to the supernaturals' works that are said by it. People have created many songs and hymns. A sacred song or hymn is a song of praise or worship to God. There are many holy books in the world. A holy book is something that yields knowledge. A temple is a building for religious practice. There are many holy building like the church, temple, gurudwaras and mosques. A priest can almost always be found in one of these sacred places. A priest is one authorized to perform rites of religion.

Oppression is a common thread in religion. It means an unjust or cruel exercise of power or authority. I think that people in the world have the right to choose whether or not to choose the same religion as someone else. Rights have to be applied to religion whatsoever. I've heard people say that they are holy, peacemakers, but what is peace if you torture people?!

Festivals are a celebration in a day or a period of time. In religion it is a series of cultural beliefs and happiness. The Hindus have about 50 festivals over their calendar. Christians have three main festive days – Christmas, Good Friday and Easter. In the Muslim community they have a main festival called Eid.

I am a believer of Christ. I think it's right. Who do you follow? Have you thought why? Think about this essay, it may help you change. No one is perfect. You could have a good rested – peaceful life.
